The total volume of construction output in the first quarter of 2009 was nine percent lower compared with the fourth quarter of 2008.
New private housing work was ten per cent lower and new public housing was eight per cent lower over the same period, all new work fell by ten per cent while repair and maintenance fell by nine per cent.
The total volume of construction output in the 12 months to the first quarter of 2009 fell by six per cent compared with the previous 12 month period.
The total volume of new work in the 12 months to the first quarter of 2009 was nine per cent lower compared with the previous 12 months and was ten per cent lower in the first quarter when compared with the previous quarter.
The total volume of repair and maintenance work fell by one per cent in the 12 months to the first quarter of 2009 compared with the previous 12 months and was nine per cent lower in the first quarter of 2009 compared with the previous quarter.
